Zelda: Breath of the Wild — Open World, New Mechanics and New Take on Items

Nintendo is holding a special livestream during E3 2016, and the main highlight of the show is the brand-new Legend of Zelda title which is coming to both Wii U and Nintendo NX next year. Taking a look at the gameplay of Breath of Wild, Nintendo has made it clear that this game is a whole new chapter of in the series.

The game has Link immediately being thrown out into the world of Hyrule; literally naked and unarmed. It is up to the player to interact with the (many) things littered around the world. Items are now more realistic, as there are various ways to use them and they have their own level of durability. For instance, it was shown off that Link can use an axe to cut down trees, as well as battle enemies with. In another instance, we saw Link taking hold of a stick and setting it on fire, and then brushing the stick over the grass which also set it on fire. Enemies and other characters also react to Link’s actions. Link can also collect many edible items which can be cooked. Eating food leads to stat-boosts.

Indeed, there are a lot of new mechanics to play around with in Breath of Fire.
