As we explained last time around, Zangetsu retains the brutal techniques and agility you first saw in Miriam’s adventure. His special abilities consume MP, but otherwise he seems to come loaded for combat right from the get-go. Although, “Consumables, equipment, crafting, treasure chests, quests and story cutscenes are disabled when playing as Zangetsu.” To play through the game as the swordsman who sounds suspiciously like Solid Snake, you just have to have beaten the game once already with the “good” ending.
The Randomizer mode, meanwhile, will remix your Bloodstained experience in a way more significant way. You can tweak the game’s gameplay goal, key items, save/warp rooms, items, enemy drops, quests, shops, and crafting to almost make a brand new game. You can also share the seed of your particular randomization with your friends so you can all vie for the fastest completion time.
It’s exciting to think that Zangetsu and Randomizer are only the beginning of the major updates for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. More really fun developments are on the way, such as Boss Revenge mode, where you get to play as the bosses to defeat the hero!
