Yooka gotta be kiddin’ me. The Nintendo Switch eShop just revealed the release date for Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair! Initially, the game was only teased to be arriving sometime in October. Now, fans of the upcoming retro platformer can look forward to an official worldwide release on Oct. 8, according to the store page for the game.

If you’re not familiar with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, it’s a bit of a departure from the Banjo-Kazooie-inspired 3D collect-a-thon action of the first game. This sequel is very much a love letter to the puzzle platforming hits like Donkey Kong Country. Players control the vibrant bat and chameleon duo of Yooka and Laylee as they traverse a variety of 2D sidescrolling levels.

In-between levels, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair sees you exploring a top-down, 2.5D overworld full of its own unique challenges and adventures. Complete objectives and collect items here to unlock even more sidescrolling levels. On top of that, levels have flip switches in them that will reverse the landscape and provide even more challenges.

Preorders are currently live for Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair on the Japanese and Australian eShops, where there’s a 10 percent off offer on top of a bonus “Trowzer’s Top Tonic Pack” preorder bonus, which includes “Largee Head” tonic, “Glow Worm,” “D.I.S.C.O.,” and “Yooka 64.” These bonuses are likely to be applied to the American and European eShops as well.
