Yacht Club delays everything Shovel Knight

Last week, Yacht Club Games announced that its recent batch of Shovel Knight goodies have been delayed. That means a delay in the free DLC, Shovel Knight: King of Cards, the fighter game expansion, Shovel Knight Showdown, a Treasure Trove amiibo 3-pack, and a retail physical version of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. How long? Yacht Club Games doesn’t want to give out an exact date, but they expect it’s several more months.

A blog post on the announcement reads:

We have only a bit more work left to do on completing King of Cards and Showdown. The two, brand new, complete games coming to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. It remains our focus to bring these to the highest level of quality just as we have with previous Shovel Knight games. It’s also our priority to have these games on the disc/card for the upcoming physical version. We need a little more time to make this happen, and so we are pushing the release back one last time. We’re still aiming to release everything at once, so this this delay applies to everything: physical editions, digital update, and Treasure Trove amiibo 3-pack.

Previously, Treasure Trove, its amiibos, and its physical edition was slated for an April 9 release. Delay comes as a quality insurance tactic, as Yacht Club wants to ensure there are no kinks in its upcoming releases. Once Showdown and King of Cards is 100% complete, a new release date will be announced.

Yacht Club has already given gamers two free DLC expansions for Shovel Knight following the main arc, Shovel of Hope, with Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment. King of Cards will be the final story arc expansion within Shovel Knight, while Showdown will add-on a 2D fighter mode with up to four players.

King of Cards‘ expansion will come free to download for the Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS,  Nintendo Switch, Sony PS3, Sony PS4, Sony Vita, Xbox One, PC, Mac, Linux, Amazon FireTV. Showdown will not be available for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita versions.
