XIII remake isn’t looking good, upcoming Switch version now suspect

The remake of the stylish FPS, XIII, launched on PS4, Xbox One, and PC yesterday. Unfortunately, Switch owners have to wait until 2021 to get their hands on the game. Even worse, it looks like the title has some issues related to graphics and performance. This does not bode well for the upcoming Switch version.

Oh, XIII, I hardly recognize you

First off, if you look at the header, the graphics in the XIII remake have been altered considerably. What was once an imaginative, comic-book-style look now resembles something straight out of Fortnite. It just goes to show enhanced graphics aren’t always better, especially when dealing with a game based on a graphic novel series.

In addition to that disappointment, Twitter user @SirCrackerBulb put together a showcase full of glitches from the PC build:

Oh boy. The lack of polish is definitely cause for alarm.

Of course, there’s always a chance the Switch version will benefit from more time in the oven. I wouldn’t get my hopes up, though. It looks like a lot of charm and style have been lost in the transition from the early XIII to its remake. Perhaps it would be best to dig out your GameCube and play the original.

Enthusiasts, are you bummed about how XIII looks on modern consoles? Apprehensive about the Switch version’s chances? Let us know below.
