A Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition “Casual mode” has been revealed by the game’s official Japanese Twitter account. The tweet shows that the game will offer players the option to switch to this mode if they’re finding something too difficult. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Casual mode will make battles easier for players who are struggling in them.

Many JRPGs have difficulty spikes. These can be benchmarks that the developers have put in to demonstrate at what level each character should be, or they may be the result of poor testing. In some games, running into a difficulty spike could require you to level grind before getting to a certain encounter, or in the worst cases, it can require a restart.
This new Casual mode should do away with such concerns or at least provide a crutch for new or unskilled players. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has a long and breathtaking story at its core, and not being able to enjoy that due to getting stuck on one single battle would hinder the experience. Casual mode can only be seen as a good thing, providing more options to those who would like them and not hurting anyone who would ignore it.
