Wrong: A Streets of Rage special move has been mispronounced for years

Streets of Rage special move

Streets of Rage is my favorite beat ’em up series. It feels flashier than Final Fight, and I always played co-op together with my friends (Genesis for life). The SoR franchise just turned 30, and composer Yuzo Koshiro celebrated the anniversary on Twitter. While doing so, he dropped a bombshell. It turns out the Streets of Rage special move belonging to Axel is not what we thought.

I can’t believe I’ve been saying this special move incorrectly for years

Check out the incredible news below:

My God. Why have you kept this a secret for so long, Koshiro?!

As it turns out, Axel’s special move is “Ground Upper,” not “Grand Upper.” My mind is officially blown. However, it makes sense because Axel moves his fist along the ground when he performs the attack.

To be honest, when I was a kid, my cousin always called the move “Grab the Pah.” As I got older, I began calling it “Grand Upper.” Regardless, it’s nice to know the correct term.

Enthusiasts, what are your thoughts on this Streets of Rage special move trivia? What have you been calling Axel’s famous attack? Let us know in the comment field below.
