What abandoned feature would you like to return in the Pokémon series?

Pokémon Sword and Shield, now just a few days away from release, have made some very controversial changes to the series formula by, among other things, removing hundreds of Pokémon and dozens of moves for the first time ever. However, abandoning series staples happens pretty often in Pokémon games. In fact, abandoning fun game conventions practically is a series staple at this point. There are tons of great features, like Pokémon walking behind you, extra regions (and extensive postgames in general), secret bases, and much more that only ever appeared in one or two games before disappearing off the face of the planet. Which long-forsaken feature do you miss the most?

Personally, I wish we could have another game that tossed us multiple regions. I wrapped up Pokémon Crystal for the first time well over a decade ago, and hopping into Kanto for the first time is still my most prominent, happy memory from the game–and the series in general. More gyms, fresh Pokémon, and plenty of cities, caves, and secrets to explore and uncover. At that moment, the Pokémon adventure had no end in sight.

What feature do you miss the most from past Pokémon titles? Whether its contests, secret bases, or vast new areas to explore, let us know what you wish would come back.
