Warner Bros. to distribute ‘Detective Pikachu’, replacing Universal

Detective Pikachu is still slated for a release next Spring, though we haven’t heard much about the project lately. The film, which was originally under Universal, has moved to Warner Bros. The studio will now handle distribution rights.

The film is influenced by Detective Pikachu on 3DS, which only released in the West this year. Ryan Reynolds is the lead, with Rob Letterman directing the project. Additional cast members include Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy, and Chris Geere.

Detective Pikachu will hit theaters on May 10, 2019.
