Waluigi Comes In for the Assist in Today\'s Smash Bros. Update

Another assist trophy has been revealed via the official Smash Bros. daily update. Wario’s fiendish ally Waluigi returns yet again as an assist trophy, wielding a tennis racket for a proper wallop or two when he joins the battle.

\”Pic of the day. Once again, Waluigi’s Assist Trophy joins the collection!! …Which also means he’s not a playable character. Just because you try hard doesn\’t mean you\’ll make it into the battle.\”

Sakurai very clearly nourishes himself on the hopes and dreams of fans whose favorite character has been shut out of the Smash roster. The tears of Waluigi fans have undoubtedly been locked away in the Smash Bros. development studio vault, where Sakurai will later lock himself away and accept the cold embrace of his treasures. Or something like that.

So yeah, once again, Waluigi returns as an assist trophy and not a playable character, inspired by his many spin-off appearances and non-existent canon ones. He\’ll likely operate as he did in Brawl, which includes flailing his arms as he runs across the stage and attempts to hit you or get you stuck in the ground.

Though a bit low-res, Waluigi’s return is colorful. He loses his Brawl textures like everyone else, which gave him a more realistic finish, to fit into the new aesthetics of the Smash Wii U and 3DS installments. Not only that, but he appears much larger than his enemies Mario and Luigi. He has seemingly retained his height and length in spades.

Well, there goes another potential character addition. Who else do you think will show up as an assist trophy? What assist trophies from the previous game should return or even be included as characters…or not at all? Let us know below!
