Suspicious signs: Rumors are piling up that point to Tracer being Smash Bros. Ultimate’s next DLC fighter

The Switch Overwatch speculation is in full swing. First, there was the removed Amazon page for a case with the title’s logo. Then, there was the retail listing of an October 18, 2019 launch date. Now, we’ve reached peak hype with the latest gossip. There are rumblings Tracer, Overwatch‘s unofficial main character, will be Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s next DLC combatant.

How did Tracer end up here?

Let’s start the rumor mill with some context. Over on website 4chan, a message was posted on August 25, 2019:

This anonymous note went live before the Overwatch speculation hit yesterday. Tracer certainly fits the description listed because no one would see her coming and Overwatch is quite a divisive game. Was this mysterious user privy to some confidential information? Perhaps a Nintendo Direct will air on September 12, 2019, and reveal the time manipulator in all of her glory.

While I am not a fan of video games with loot box mechanics, Tracer would be a perfect addition to Smash Bros. Ultimate. She’s recognizable, has unique gimmicks with her abilities to teleport through space and rewind time, and would be a proper celebration for Overwatch‘s Switch port. As always, take this information with the hugest grain of salt. Regardless, we’ll know soon if this is all a bunch of malarkey.

Enthusiasts, what do you make of all these rumors? Would you be upset or excited to see Tracer in Smash Bros. Ultimate? Let us know in the comment section below.
