Yesterday’s bizarre social media tease with Nintendo, Tony Hawk, and even Crash Bandicoot has yielded results sooner than expected: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will launch for Nintendo Switch at some point in 2021, in addition to releasing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 26. The game’s social media accounts made the announcement, meaning that the work of developer Vicarious Visions and publisher Activision will soon be delivered to an even wider audience.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is an HD remaster of the original two games in the franchise that launched in 1999 and 2000 respectively. The two games were deeply beloved at the time, with the second one even being argued as one of the greatest games of all time upon its release. Fortunately, the critical reception to this remaster by Vicarious Visions has been positive as well on other platforms. There is no official word yet on who is involved in porting Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 to Nintendo Switch, but it may not be Vicarious Visions, as it’s been absorbed into Blizzard and is creating Diablo II: Resurrected, which will also come to Switch.
Stay tuned for a more concrete 2021 release date for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 on Nintendo Switch.
