The Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association has announced that Tokyo Game Show 2021 Online will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3. As the name suggests, the four-day event will take place mostly online for the audience, like last year’s gaming expo. Exhibitors will have until June 25 to submit their applications to be a part of the show.
Tokyo Game Show shifted to an online event last year due to the pandemic, and this year the organizers want to take advantage of the fact that it will be online. The theme of Tokyo Game Show 2021 Online is, “Nevertheless, we have games,” meaning that things might not be back to normal yet, but hey, we still have games.
While the general audience will have to watch this year’s TGS online, the event will be open to select journalists and influencers. Those selected will get to visit the venue to try new games from exhibitors. It’s all part of an effort to improve as the second online event for TGS, which will have more online business matching and streaming.
The TGS 2021 Online portal website will open on Sept. 1, 2021. The official programs will stream on all four days via YouTube, Twitter, NicoNico, Twitch, Facebook, Douyin, Douyu, bilibili, and other prominent platforms worldwide. The streams will be available in Japanese and English. Furthermore, CESA is working together with all platforms’ online stores to have free demos of new games for the viewers.
