The Witcher Netflix TV series first images revealed by Henry Cavill

The Witcher is coming to Netflix as a live-action series this year, with Henry Cavill playing the rugged hero, Geralt of Rivia. Today, Cavill teased the first images of the show via Instagram. We see Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerburg, and Freya Allan as (Princess) Ciri. What do you think of their looks so far?

It would be nice if Henry Cavill would grow out that very faint beard of his. But aside from that, I think he looks pretty awesome as Geralt for The Witcher. Chalotra is similarly looking pretty Yennefer-ish. She looks maybe a little young for the role, but the makeup and styling (and dagger) suggest it will be dangerous to misread Yennefer’s intentions.

And finally, Allan as Ciri looks… okay? I don’t know what “type” of Ciri we’re supposed to be seeing here. If this is a pre-training lost girl in the woods, it makes sense. She doesn’t strike me as a capable character yet. Although, Ciri is also supposed to be pretty uncertain of herself, and that is reflected here. Also, the angle of her close-up is making some accuse Allan of looking too old for the role, but that’s just silly; she’s 17, people!
