The Witcher teaser trailer from Netflix, Geralt of Rivia

(I’m pretty sure it’s not clickbait if you directly order the viewership to click the thing. Right?) The Witcher live-action Netflix series has finally received its first teaser trailer, following images and months of general teases. Among other things, we see the main cast in action at last, with Henry Cavill as Geralt, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerburg, and Freya Allan as Ciri. Check it out.

The Witcher teaser trailer seems to offer flashes of past and present, not being completely clear about things since it’s — again — a teaser. Geralt as introduced as a rough character concerned mostly with killing monsters and collecting money. But then we have a sickly woman gasping that Ciri must go to Geralt, which, all things considered, is probably a good idea. Yennefer, against what we would usually expect, might be the least self-assured character in the trailer, though she also seems deadly as usual.

As would be expected, The Witcher Netflix series is set on “the Continent,” the convenient catch-all name for where the saga’s events take place. The series will be based upon the Polish novels of author Andrzej Sapkowski, not the video games. The tagline for the show seems to be, “The worst monsters are the ones we create,” which is extraordinarily trite, but it’s at least easy to understand. Frankly, I’m a lot more interested in the actual monster shown at the end of the teaser, though I hope they improve its CG by the time it actually comes out.

The Witcher Netflix teaser trailer still reveals no release date for the series, unfortunately.
