The PowKiddy X2 is one of the boldest Switch knockoffs so far

PowKiddy X2 - Switch Look-A-Like

With the Nintendo Switch becoming such an iconic product, it’s basically a given that it would attract some copycats. That’s exactly what’s happened here with a new device from Chinese manufacturer PowKiddy. The company has released the PowKiddy X2, which is one of the boldest Switch knockoffs ever.

Like many of these so-called ‘cone consoles’, the PowKiddy X2 is just a glorified emulator box. So, basically, this thing is a lawsuit in plastic form.

It proudly touts that it has key features like 11 included emulators, a quad-core processor, and HDMI output. It doesn’t feature detachable controllers like the Switch does, but instead tries to offer multiplayer by means of including input ports to plug in external controllers.

The PowKiddy X2 is now on sale for $80; a much cheaper offering than say, a Switch Lite. But still, not even at $80 is it really worth the price.

Seeing that this is an emulation device, we won’t be posting any links to it. But, here’s hoping that a non tech-savy shopper doesn’t buy this thing while also thinking they’re picking up an actual Nintendo Switch on the cheap. I can easily see someone buying this and listing it on eBay as a Switch to prey on such shoppers.  That was mainly the point of writing this report—as a reminder to be wary of what you’re looking at while surfing online.
