The Outer Worlds will orbit around Nintendo Switch in Q1 2020

The Outer Worlds Q1 2020 Nintendo Switch Take Two Interactive report

Take Two Interactive has released its 2020 Q2 earnings results for investors, meaning it’s the usual mountain of text. The most pertinent part of that mountain for Nintendo Switch owners is that The Outer Worlds is confirmed to release in the first quarter of 2020.

The report states: “Created by the renowned RPG developer, Obsidian Entertainment, The Outer Worlds is a dark and witty player-driven story set in a colony at the farthest reaches of the galaxy. The title will also be available for Nintendo Switch in calendar 2020, during our fiscal year 2020.” Or in other words, it will release between January and March.

Virtuos is porting The Outer Worlds to Switch for Obsidian. While we haven’t gotten to see what the game looks like running on the hybrid console yet, Obsidian was apparently pretty blown away by Virtuos’ prototype, which is promising. Reviews of the game on other platforms have been quite positive overall as well, so it sounds like we may have yet another wonderful The Witcher 3 situation on our hands.

We only recently reported that this title would be releasing for Switch in 2020, but Take Two’s report helps us narrow down that release window a little more. Happy days for science fiction role-playing FPS fans.
