The Outer Worlds Switch version coming sometime in 2020

The Outer Worlds

A press release from The Outer Worlds publisher Private Division reports that the Switch version will release some time in 2020. The game released yesterday for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. We already knew that the Switch version was coming later, but at least 2020 is something to go off of. At some point before the summer would be nice. The port is being handled by Virtuos, who previously handled the Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered.

The open-world action RPG by Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment has been a frequent sight on wishlists. Since the catastrophic launch of Fallout 76, fans of the franchise have been champing at the bit waiting for this game. The Outer Worlds is the spiritual successor to a franchise scorned and seeks to live up to the free-form, slightly goofy nature of the Fallout series. It even carries over some familiar features such as TTD, a time-stopping mechanic mimicking Fallout‘s VATS system.

Personally, I can’t wait to get my hands on this game, Switch version or not. Ideally, we’ll see it soon, but if it needs more time to optimize then I can wait. Maybe we’ll get to see another miracle port like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
