Falcom has announced that the Nintendo Switch version of The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails will launch this spring in Japan. The Switch version will feature several improvements and upgrades, including everything added in the PlayStation 4 version that was released in Japan in June.
The Legend of Nayuta was originally released for the PSP in Japan in July 2012. While it is part of the Trails series, it plays more like Falcom’s action RPGs Ys and Zwei II instead of the classic turn-based RPG system seen throughout The Legend of Heroes.
The Switch version of The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails will feature enhanced graphics. Moreover, it’ll have 60 FPS support and upgraded sound quality. As previously reported, the title will be the first Nintendo Switch game developed in-house by Falcom. It will also be the first time The Legend of Nayuta makes it outside of Japan after almost 10 years.
Up until now, Clouded Leopard Entertainment and Nippon Ichi Software worked on ports and remasters for Falcom games. Moving forward, we’ll see more Switch games directly from Falcom, so stay tuned for more in 2022. The company also mentioned plans of expanding on its IPs, including the Trails and Ys series.
The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails will be released for the Nintendo Switch in spring 2022 in Japan. NIS America will localize the game in the West in 2023. A PC version handled by PH3 Games will also be available through Steam and the Epic Games Store in 2023.
