The Game Awards will feature a world premiere 2.5 years in the making

The Game Awards new reveal 2021

Following a digital event last year, The Game Awards is set to return in glorious fashion early next month, complete with games, celebration, and, perhaps a new reveal or two. The show’s longtime host, Geoff Keighley, has been working to charge up the hype train for the event, including a tweet tonight hinting at a brand new game that will appear at the show this year. You can see Keighley’s tweet below.

“Working on with a developer for 2.5 years” raises a few questions for me; has the game in question been in development for 2.5 years, or has the developer been actually working with The Game Awards to put together a reveal for the new title for 2.5 years? Additionally, I am interested in knowing what constitutes a “world premiere.” Our friends at NintendoLife pointed out that the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild may be a candidate, as it was revealed about 2.5 years ago and still has not seen any significant deep dive that might constitute a “premiere.” Of course, for something labeled a world premiere, the possibilities are endless.

Are you excited to tune into The Game Awards this year, and are you anticipating anything exciting from this new reveal? Do you think there is a chance that Keighley is referencing the sequel to Breath of the Wild? Let us know in the comment section below.
