Indie dev Thunder Lotus Games launched Spiritfarer last year to resoundingly positive reviews. This beautiful game explores themes of death and the afterlife, and it made a significant emotional impact on many who played it. If you wished you could dive even deeper into its world, we’ve got great news! The Escapist, one of our sister sites at the Enthusiast Gaming network, just finished putting together a documentary that explores the game’s development. You can look forward to the finished product on July 19, but in the meantime, check out the trailer below!

About the game

Spiritfarer challenges its players to ask the question “What will you leave behind?” You play as Stella, a ferrymaster to the deceased. Build a boat to explore the world: Farm, mine, fish, harvest, cook, and craft your way across mystical seas as you befriend spirits. Spend relaxing quality time with your spirit passengers, create lasting memories, and, ultimately, learn how to say goodbye to your cherished friends.

The Escapist originally planned to cover the development of Spiritfarer in a 20-minute mini-documentary, but they ended up with so much more. The finished product is a full 50 minutes, complete with an original soundtrack by James Elsey. You can experience it all when the documentary debuts on July 19.
