Tales of series producer Yusuke Tomizawa talked about the graphics we can expect to see in future titles and remakes in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. Tomizawa didn’t get into specifics about unannounced titles, but he gave us a few ideas of what we can expect from Bandai Namco as we approach the series’s 30th anniversary in 2025 (via Ryokutya2089).
Talking about future Tales of titles, producer Yusuke Tomizawa said that he thinks the next title will use the Atmospheric Shaders graphics used for the latest series entry, Tales of Arise. Bandai Namco is currently testing out visuals for the next games. However, Tomizawa mentioned that the “Atmos Shaders” is difficult to use for remakes of past titles. The developers are currently in the testing stage, so nothing has been decided, but basically, don’t expect any remakes from the series with Tales of Arise‘s paintbrush graphical style.
Unfortunately, there’s still no word on Tales of Arise for Switch. Furthermore, when asked about plans for an anime that tells the story of Arise, Tomizawa said that there aren’t any plans. However, if you’ve already played the game, there’s more to look forward to, as the producer wants to release something that complements the story of Arise. Perhaps we’ll get some kind of anime OVA from Ufotable as we’ve seen for other Tales of “Mothership” games.
Lastly, Tomizawa shared some encouraging words as we head into the series’s 30th anniversary: “Instead of saying that we’ll make a 30th anniversary game for 2025, I just want to make what the fans have been asking for.” Check our previous report for more thoughts from the producer about the next remake and remaster.
