Masao Shirosaki, the director of the recent hit Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, has declared his interest in making a new game in the series. Shirosaki stated as such in a recent interview with Retro Gamer. You can read his full quote below.
As this game and the previous one are remakes, I do feel that I want to create a new Super Monkey Ball game. I have ideas on what it could be like. I’m looking forward to seeing how Super Monkey Ball will grow. This is not something I can do on my own, so I would like everyone to first enjoy Banana Mania and if there are enough voices looking forward to the next title, it may come true. I have been looking at everyone’s reactions on social media and no matter what language it’s in, I always translate it and read through them. I would be overjoyed if we could create the future of a new Super Monkey Ball together.
The Super Monkey Ball franchise is enjoying a bit of a renaissance after spending the better part of the previous two decades in la tailspin followed by a hiatus from new games. While Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD was a disappointing note to revive the series on, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania was an exciting return that brought the spotlight back to the series’ best days and showcased some fun new ideas to boot. With any luck, Banana Mania can fuel some positive momentum and get us a great new Super Monkey Ball game before long.
