Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania unveils new mode and Golden AiAi

Super Monkey BAll: Banana Mania

We are just over one month out from Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, a highly anticipated, long-wished-for remake of the excellent first two Super Monkey Ball games. In the lead-in to the game, the official series Twitter account has shared a slow trickle of updates on the new title, including exciting new characters such as Morgana from Persona 5. Most recently, the account revealed a brand new mode and skin for AiAi. The mode, called Golden Banana Mode, challenges players to collect all bananas across a series of ten stages. Successfully grabbing every banana will unlock Golden AiAi, who you can then play as in the main game.

Depending on the stages selected, Golden Banana Mode could be a very healthy challenge for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania players, and playing as Golden AiAi afterwards will be the perfect way to commemorate the victory.

I am quite excited for small challenges like Golden Banana Mode. Diversions like this one are great ways to add replayability and new ways to play some old favorites.

This game cannot get here soon enough. It is currently my most anticipated Switch game by a long shot, and for good reason: it’s reviving two of my favorite games ever made, with plenty of new additions and updates that will hopefully make them better to play than ever.

How are you feeling about Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania? Is it on your radar? If it’s not, it probably should be. Two of the greatest GameCube games, modernized and on-the-go for the first time ever? Sign me up.
