Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD rolls out a new gameplay trailer

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD Switch

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, the long-awaited return of the Super Monkey Ball franchise, is less than three months away. No, it is not a new game, nor is it a remake of one of the stunning first two Super Monkey Ball games,  but it is more Super Monkey Ball, dammit, and I’m excited. The series is finally back, hopefully for good. Celebrating the impending return of AiAi and friends, Sega uploaded a minute-long gameplay trailer to the SegaAmerica YouTube channel. You can check it out below and get a closer look at some of the remastered levels.

The HD remake seems to be coming along nicely. While it would have made way more sense to redo Super Monkey Ball 2 instead, the original Banana Blitz was still a solid game hampered by forced motion controls and shoddy minigames. With some TLC, it could stand on its own as a pretty great game and finally help this series get the ball rolling again.

Luckily, we do not have to wait too long to find out how the game fares with traditional controls. Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD will release on October 29, 2019 on Switch, Xbox One, and PS4, with a Steam release later on. I am cautiously excited for the return of one of my favorite series–what about you? Sound off in the comments.
