Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD trailer is next-level marketing

Live-action Super Monkey Ball

When I think of video games that deserve live-action adaptations, Super Monkey Ball certainly comes to mind first. I mean, after Sonic the HedgehogI can’t think of a franchise more suitable. A live-action trailer for the upcoming Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD has popped up, and frankly I’m going ape over it. To promote the game’s release on Oct. 29, the trailer shows off some actors suiting up and giving themselves some pretty high praise. Oh, and there’s a little bit of gameplay in there too, I guess.

After this trailer, I can safely say that I wish live-action Super Monkey Ball were real. The casting feels spot-on, especially Zach Briggs as GonGon. However, when I googled the “famous actor” Corey T. Gibbons, I did not get any IMDb pages, filling me with disillusionment. The trailer also fails to show actors for Baby or Dr. Bad-Boon, so I’m holding out for an expanded revisit.

Video games are no strangers to live-action marketing, like for The Messenger and even Fire Emblem: Heroes. It never fails to brighten my day, whether it be serious or comical. If Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD doesn’t have your attention after this, I don’t know what will.
