As one of the redeeming reasons to have Nintendo Switch Online, fans are excited to learn which retro titles are coming out next. That’s doubly so when you consider the beloved titles that have yet to be released. Well, it seems fans won’t have to wait long as Super Mario Bros. 2 and Kirby’s Adventure will be on the service next week.
Known as Super Mario USA in Japan, Super Mario Bros. 2 has been considered the “redheaded stepchild” of the original platformers. However, hardcore fans will know that this was the debut of a number of franchise staples we still see today. Each character had unique abilities such as Luigi’s high jump and Princess Peach (Toadstool here) with her floating jump. We also saw current mainstay characters for the first time such as Birdo, Shy Guy, and the Bob-ombs. Wart also made for an interesting alternative to Bowser as the big baddie.
Kirby’s Adventure was the second game for the pink puffball after his Game Boy debut. Not only was this the first time Kirby was in color, but it also marked the first time he could copy moves. Like pretty much every game in the series, this is a relatively easy platformer. But it’s still a joy to play and really helped define Kirby as a character moving forward.
These titles will be available on Wednesday, February 13th for all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
