Super Mario 64 splitscreen multiplayer mod spices up a classic

Super Mario 64 splitscreen multiplayer mod

Super Mario 64 is one of the most iconic games of all time. This N64 classic ushered in Nintendo’s 3D era, inspiring countless developers and games along the way. Others have gone to work on the game itself, modding it to add in new features or levels. There’s no one better at this than Kaze Emanuar, and he recently unveiled yet another impressive fan project. This one’s a simple concept, but a game-changer all the same. With this new mod, you can play the whole game in splitscreen multiplayer! Try it for yourself!

The Super Mario 64 splitscreen multiplayer mod allows you and a friend to team up as Mario and Luigi and tackle the castle together. If one of you dies, the other can rescue them from a bubble, just like in many 2D Mario games. Otherwise, the game is pretty much identical to how you remember it with only minor changes. It’s free to download and try out right now. However, you’ll need a copy of the original game’s ROM, which is not provided by Kaze. You can learn how to download the patch by clicking here.
