Super Mario 3D World’s Japanese Release Celebrated in Today’s Smash Bros. Update

Sakurai has taken to Miiverse, armed with today’s screenshot for the official Smash Bros. daily update, with a celebration of Super Mario 3D World’s release in Japan.

\”Pic of the day. Super Mario 3D World is out in Japan! To commemorate the occasion I had these four…people(?) come together in a group shot.\”

While playable characters Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach show up in full form, many fans may be disappointed that this isn\’t a Toad character reveal, either. As we saw in Peach’s reveal, Toad is remaining as part of Peach’s moveset as her down-b counter.

Meanwhile, Luigi shows off his new flutter jump, while we get another backdrop of the recently revealed Super Mario Galaxy stage, which features an intense amount of gravity that will absolutely change how battles are fought. The stage is curved with walk-off ends, as well as two red, floating platforms (one of which barely sticks into today’s screenshot on the left).

Don\’t forget – today is also the 12th anniversary of Super Smash Bros. Melee’s release in Japan. Certainly, today is a day worth celebrating.
