In the world’s worst kept secret, a Mario-themed Nintendo Direct finally dropped today to celebrate the series’ 35th anniversary. In the video, a selection of Mario goodness for Switch was announced, including a port of Super Mario 3D World from the Wii U. This is the latest in a long line of Wii U remasters, including the recently announced Pikmin 3 Deluxe. As a bonus, it comes with extra content called “Bowser’s Fury.” Check out the trailer below!

We’re especially excited about this one though. It’s been over three years since Super Mario Odyssey launched, and we’re dying to play more HD Mario on Switch.  3D World was one of the Wii U’s finest exclusives, taking the concept laid down in 3D Land for Nintendo 3DS, and injecting it with co-op support and gorgeous HD visuals.

Alongside the re-release comes some fresh content. Bowser’s Fury was revealed as the new trailer closed out, showing catsuit Mario looking pretty distraught in a stormy landscape. There’s not much info on this at present, but we’re assuming it’s an expansion to the original 3D World game. It looks a stark contrast to the mostly colorful landscapes seen in the main game, and we can’t wait to play some brand new 3D World content.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury launches February 12, 2021.
