People are just so hungry for news on the much rumored 3D Super Mario remasters, to such an extent that fans are looking for clues about an announcement anywhere they can. To that end, via VGC, eagle-eyed Júlio Rodrigo has located a @supermario35th Twitter account created in March 2020. Reports of Super Mario 35th anniversary celebrations, including the aforementioned remasters, began back on March 30, 2020.
The timing of the report relative to the opening of the Twitter account means a random fan could have opened this account at the end of March, but what sweetens the deal a bit is the email address associated with this account. The email could potentially have a Nintendo.co.jp domain, which would seemingly match with the domain name for emails connected to official Japanese Splatoon and Super Smash Bros. accounts. (Twitter doesn’t allow two accounts to use the precise same email address.)
None of this is a slam dunk by any means, but it’s promising. These Mario remasters for the Super Mario 35th anniversary almost definitely exist, and rumors are swelling that an announcement will come sooner rather than later. Most recently, game leaker Zippo on Resetera kind of intimated that the remasters could be announced next week, which would line up with another rumor of a full Nintendo Direct we’ve previously reported on, as well as alleged new Switch game SKUs at GameStop.
