Streets of Rage 4 confirmed for Switch, new character revealed in video

Streets of Rage 4 for Nintendo Switch with Cherry Hunter video

We’ve been reporting on Streets of Rage 4 from Lizardcube, Guard Crush Games, and Dotemu for quite a while without being able to say definitively that it would be coming to Nintendo Switch. Finally, that ounce of ambiguity is gone as the latest Gamescom tease for the game announces it will come to Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The new video also shows off new character Cherry Hunter, who is the daughter of Adam Hunter from the original game.

Streets of Rage 4 explains about Cherry Hunter: “Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music. Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band.” It’s a very common shift in career trajectory, I’m sure.

Despite her intentions though, Cherry is beating up dudes anyway, using the electric shock of her guitar to repel enemies. She also seems pretty acrobatic, hopping off lots of dudes’ heads. Again, I’m sure these are all common occurrences once you’ve started an electro progressive rock band.

Streets of Rage 4 has no release window yet, and it seemingly has at least one more playable character to still reveal. Stay tuned for more updates on this vibrant beat-’em-up revival.
