Last week, XSEED Games revealed its plans for the retail editions of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town ahead of its March launch, including separate special editions for North America and Europe. The publisher has now detailed the game’s new features, including a new crafting system coming to Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town.
Crafting has been a part of past series entries, but the system is expanding in Pioneers of Olive Town. You can use items gathered from farming such as wood, stone, grass, and flowers. The team says that while a limited amount of items can be crafted as is, the “maker” feature allows you to process materials. Once processed, a bunch more craftable items become available.
Olive Town sits right alongside your humble farm, and you’ll meet its residents from time to time. XSEED says if you gift items to the townsfolk, a different side to them may be revealed. It’s also your job to develop Olive Town. At the start of the game, the town will be relatively barebones with little to no tourism income. With a little TLC it could become something though, and building shops and attractions will help bring people in. Events will also take place at Olive Town throughout the year.
Your farming performance will likewise affect the town and its shops. The more you produce, the more your products will line store shelves throughout Olive Town. Your farming goods will give the residents what they need to thrive, and hopefully bring more tourists in.
Finally, publisher Marvelous also revealed six new townspeople arriving in Pioneers of Olive Town:
- Misaki, the mysterious bistro manager
- Clemens, the friendly tool shop manager
- Angela, the general store manager, Jack and Cindy’s mother
- Nguyen, the gentle old man who runs the flower shop
- Norman, the fainthearted grocery store manager
- Karina, an independent hair and makeup artist.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town and its new features arrive for Switch on March 23, 2021. Check out Gematsu for lots of new gameplay screenshots.
