After the massive success of SteamWorld Dig on the 3DS – and its later ports to other platforms – Swedish developer Image & Form are back with another entry to the SteamWorld series: SteamWorld Heist. The devs said that, while making a sequel to Dig was the obvious choice, they wanted to do something surprising, unexpected, and radically different. And also they really wanted to make a turn based game. Heist will be, according to them, \”full of surprises and probably the best game ever.\”
SteamWorld Heist is set years after SteamWorld Dig, and a cataclysmic event has destroyed the planet and sent its inhabitants into steam-driven spaceships. Water is extremely hard to come by; heisting other ships and bases is their only way to remain in operation. Heist is a game of space adventure and survival. You\’ll put together a team of robots to explore and scavenge the remains of a destroyed world. You will board enemy ships and command your crew in a unique variety of turn-based combat.
The platforms, release schedule, and price have not yet been determined, though it is planned for a Spring 2015 release date.
