Stardew Valley harvests 10 million copies sold

Stardew Valley update 1.5 concernedape eric barone future of game uncertain

A laid back combo of farming and social sims, Stardew Valley has captured a lot of hearts, and a lot of sales–10 million, in fact. While the news initially broke quietly via press release, Eric Barone, the game’s primary developer, later addressed the milestone over Twitter.

Approaching the four year anniversary of its February 2016 release date, part of Stardew Valley‘s sustained success certainly stems from its continued developer support in the form of ports to new systems and frequent content updates. Remember all of the excitement behind the added multiplayer coming to Switch a little over a year ago? Version 1.4, another major update that brought new end-game content, crops and items, and a map, is barely a month old on Switch. For all we know, more ports (beyond the Tesla one) may be on the way; with a new generation on the horizon, many will want to take their favorite farming game with them. Stardew Valley has been a living game ever since it came out, and that has paid off big for ConcernedApe.

Are you one of 10 million owners of Stardew Valley? What do you think of the game? What about its recent updates? Are you surprised to see it with this much success, or is it perfectly deserved? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
