Star Wars: Hunters first images emerge of squad-based arena combat

Star Wars: Hunters first images screenshosts leak Zynga free to play Nintendo Switch mobile

During the February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Lucasfilm Games and mobile game development titan Zynga announced Star Wars: Hunters for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, a free-to-download real-time multiplayer action title. Few concrete details have been divulged about the game otherwise, but while we wait, unofficial Twitter account Star Wars: Hunters News has shared some first images and screenshots of the game that it has scrounged together. There are Jedi, stormtroopers, a really jacked Wookiee, and apparently one Jawa standing on top of a second Jawa, which is strangely cute.

Star Wars: Hunters certainly looks like a free-to-play mobile action game in these images, with different types of currency to spend on weapons. The graphics look solid though, and it will certainly play best on Switch without having to deal with pesky touchscreen controls just to move and activate special abilities.

To date, Zynga and Lucasfilm Games have only dropped a few crumbs about the game in assorted places, but here are the highlights: “Set after the fall of the Galactic Empire, Star Wars: Hunters will connect players in real time to battle in settings inspired by iconic Star Wars locales.” “Dominate grand arenas using skill and tactics as you engage in thrilling combat to reign victorious with your team.” “Players will join squads of all-new and authentic characters, including daring Bounty Hunters, heroes of the Rebellion and Imperial stormtroopers, in an action game that immerses players in a fast-paced and visually stunning Star Wars galaxy.”

Star Wars: Hunters will launch sometime in 2021 on Switch and mobile, but for now, we have some first images and screenshots to munch on.
