Nintendo has performed a slight U-turn from ending Splatoon 2 Splatfests last year. The popular events, which pit two teams against each other based on a random choice, initially dried up last summer. However, some returning choices came back to the game this year, and now a spooky Splatfest is incoming with the appropriately named “Splatoween” for Halloween.
The Splatoween event begins Oct. 30, and the two choices have been revealed. You’ll have to decide between Team Trick or Team Treat this time around, the same as the 2018 Halloween event. That time out, Team Treat won, so we’ll see if Halloween 2020 plays out any differently.
Launching alongside Splatoween is a new set of customization items. Four new headgear pieces join the Splatoon 2 catalog later this month and will be available to claim via a Switch News article on the console. The items are the Kyonshi Hat, Li’l Devil Horns, Hockey Mask, and Anglerfish Mask, and they look pretty sweet.
Splatoon 2 is still being supported then, even if most of the events are recycled from previous years. It’s great to see Nintendo roll back the decision to stop Splatfest events altogether. They prove a good reason to jump back in, especially if there are some new gear items on offer.
The Splatoon 2 Splatoween event begins Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. PT and runs through Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. PT.
