‘Splatoon’ Fans Will Adore the Inklings in ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sees Inklings join the battle, bringing a moveset perfectly derived from the mechanics of Splatoon.

From the get-go I was incredibly impressed by the fluidity of the new characters. Smash Bros. as a franchise always boasts tight controls, and the Inklings are no different. There’s an obvious amount of care, time, and effort put into replicating what makes the gameplay of Splatoon unique and translating that into new Smash fighters that fit perfectly.

From zig-zagging around the map, dropping bombs, to taking on opponents one on one, the new additions include a variety of attacks that will almost certainly please the biggest of Splatoon fans. With a ton of mechanics that could’ve worked in Smash Bros. Ultimate, the developers made great choices with what they included in the title.

The Splattershot works well as a long-to-mid range weapon, akin to that of Bowser’s fire breath. The Splat Roller, on the other hand, is geared towards players who want to dive head on into the action.

Keeping true to Splatoon, ink runs out, creating a sense of urgency when playing as an Inkling. Players can take a risk and fully charge their weapon, or stay on the safe side and attempt to do damage in short bursts.

Inklings are perfect for those that want to get creative with their Smash Bros. play style. Whether it be taking opponents head on or trying to evade and take as little damage as possible, the new characters are a welcome addition to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster.
