Splatoon eSports Coming to Japan, More Than $1 Million in Prize Money

Nintendo has announced a new eSports tournament series for Splatoon in Japan. This tournament series will be held throughout the end of 2015 and the beginning of 2016 and will feature more than 40 events in 8 different Japanese cities. Nintendo also announced that there will be more than $1,000,000 in prize money for competitors.

The scheduled cities and dates follow…

  • Fukuoka (September 13)
  • Sapporo (September 26)
  • Nagoya (October 11)
  • Osaka (November 3)
  • Miyagi (November 15)
  • Hiroshima (November 22)
  • Kagawa (December 13)
  • Tokyo (January 30)

Nintendo will use the Turf War mode for all tournament matches, with no weapon limitations for the competitors.

Nintendo has yet to announce any sort of similar tournament in North America, but we will keep you updated on any new announcements as they are made!
