Over the Halloween weekend, Nintendo ran the Splatoween Splatfest for Splatoon 2. It was another returning matchup, which saw Team Treat take on Team Trick, as first debuted in 2018. The competition is spread over three categories: votes, normal matches, and pro matches, and Nintendo has revealed which came out on top.
Just like the event itself, the winner is a repeat. As it did in 2018, Team Treat came out on top overall. While Team Trick took the votes category with over 58% of the vote, Team Treat won both the normal matches category and the pro matches category. As usual, the in-game competition was fierce.
With a thrilling 2-1 performance #TeamTreat are your #Splatoween champions! Congratulations to these fun-sized furies and thanks to everyone who participated! And be sure to grab your Super Sea Snails in Inkopolis Square! pic.twitter.com/N0fPmtDzpx

This Splatoween Splatfest comes as the latest competition since Nintendo decided to revive the themed events in Splatoon 2. The company had declared that Splatfests were ending last year before reversing the decision this year for a limited time. A reason why was never explained, as the events just carried on coming since the initial return back in May.
The reason for the Splatfest returns may never be detailed, but we think it’s a good thing for Splatoon 2. The live events bring people back into the online Splatoon 2 fold, as we’ve now passed three years since launch. For future Splatfest events, what head-to-head competitions would you like to see?
