Splatoon 2 Splatfest renews again with Chicken vs. Egg and more coming

The last Splatoon 2 Splatfest saw Team Ketchup battle it out against Team Mayo. Nintendo had said it was finished with Splatfest, but it seems like it was fibbing to us. Today the company has announced yet another Splatfest. This time it pits Team Chicken against Team Egg. The event goes live on Aug. 21 and will allow players to battle it out for their team for a solid 48 hours. Chicken or the egg? No, chicken vs. egg.

And in addition to this Splatfest, there will be two more arriving before the end of March 2021. Two Splatfests over the course of eight months might not sound like much to look forward to, but it’s enough for now.

This Splatoon 2 Splatfest is actually another classic, much like Ketchup vs Mayo. Personally I favor Team Egg for next month’s bout, but then I’ve been swayed by the adorable chick hatching in the image above.

Nintendo is additionally celebrating the third anniversary of Splatoon 2. The company actually released the following artwork today as a way to celebrate this milestone. If this means we get more Splatfests every year, then I’m in.

Are you still playing Splatoon 2 after all this time, and if not, will the Chicken vs. Egg Splatfest entice you to come back?

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
