Sonic the Hedgehog creator Yuji Naka is not a fan of Sonic's movie design

As the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, Yuji Naka has strong opinions regarding the direction of the upcoming movie. The Internet has had its time in the sun mocking the blue hedgehog’s live-action venture so far. But now it’s time for Naka-san to give his two cents.

His first reaction on Twitter was very befitting. Google literally translates his reaction as “Is this a Sonic movie?”

Naka-san’s next tweet gets more specific as he gets into the character’s proportions. Sonic the Hedgehog has a very specific and iconic look, so this is a very valid concern. Below he states, “I feel that it is important to look at the whole body visual of Sonic and head body and stomach. Did you not get a little more balance?”

In the next tweet, the Sonic creator states that he believes these leaks are strategic. He then shows concern that if the film doesn’t do well that it’s the IP which will ultimately suffer. Naka-san does have a point there since the movie producers would just call it a wash and move on to the next project. Sonic is Sega’s baby, however, so any negativity surrounding the franchise ultimately stays with them.

He ends this thought criticizing the lack of gloves. “It is shocking that bare hands are white.”

It’s still unclear the nature of these images popping up, specifically if they are indeed leaks from the movie. We can’t be 100% certain how this will turn out until a trailer puts everything in context. Judging by the legs in this latest image, however, they sure do seem to line up with that awful poster. Time will tell as we get closer to the November 8th release date.
