In a recent developer update, GungHo Online Entertainment confirmed a Sonic the Hedgehog Ninjala collaboration for season 2, which will begin on Aug. 26. This will be the first in-game collaboration, and it looks like something that the developers might want to repeat with other IPs in the future. No specific details about how the collaboration will work have been revealed yet, so we need to stay tuned.

The Sonic the Hedgehog Ninjala collaboration had been rumored among the community for a short while now. It’s a smart combination if you think of Sonic’s agility and movement and the similar fluidity of this series. Previously datamined information suggests that Tails and Knuckles will be coming along for the ride with Sonic the Hedgehog, though this has yet to be confirmed.

The GungHo developer update video also covers some quality-of-life updates that are coming to Ninjala or have just arrived. The ability to matchmake with players from any region was recently added to the game. They also covered some new weapons that are coming to the game with season 2, as well as the Ninjala anime collaboration. The developers say that the next episode for the anime is due to release in early September, not too overly long after season 2 begins in the game.

Started out playing Metroid 2 on the GameBoy at around 5 years-old, and now I write about games all day long. Can't play Switch and drive, I've tried. As time goes on the Switch is quickly becoming my favourite console of all time.
