Despite still being a few weeks away from release, Sonic the Hedgehog has had one heck of a ride through its development. Its two most notable moments came with the horrifying first design and the subsequent delay and redesign born by fan outcry. At this point, Sonic the Hedgehog seems to have recovered from its terrifying reveal. Many of us are just excited to finally see the movie when showings open on February 13, when we’ll find out if it has enough spirit to justify the delay. Based on the lead voice’s comments on the first audience screening, though, it looks like we may have a winner on our hands. Ben Schwartz, the voice behind the Blue Blur’s cinematic debut, recently tweeted about Sonic the Hedgehog‘s first audience screening.

In his excitement over playing Sonic, Schwartz has always been brimming with enthusiasm about the movie, but at least one other theater-goer reported a good time seeing Sonic the Hedgehog. Kevin Polowy, a host and senior correspondent at Yahoo Entertainment, relayed glowing comments from his two daughters.

It’s been a long, long road for Sonic the Hedgehog, but the movie may complete its redemption yet. A funny, family movie that’s nothing but a good time would be a win for Sonic, a win for the talents behind the film, and a win for video game-based cinema in general.

Will you be seeing Sonic the Hedgehog when it comes to theaters in February? Are you happy with the redesign? Let us know your hopes for the movie in the comments.
