Sonic Colors: Ultimate patch released on Switch, fixes visual bugs

Sonic Colors Ultimate patch

The Nintendo Switch version of the recently released Sonic Colors: Ultimate has received a patch, fixing a widespread issue that supposedly caused the screen to flash random colors. Isn’t that ironic? Although I didn’t experience this issue during my review, it has seemingly managed to affect a lot of players. Sega confirmed this on the official Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter account, which mentions that this patch for Sonic Colors: Ultimate is the first of several planned updates (other platforms included).

In my review, I praised its fun level design and replay value — despite some performance issues on the Nintendo Switch version. However, it seems like Sega is committed to addressing the game’s known bugs, as they informed fans their feedback was being taken into account. I’ve also played the Xbox version of Colors: Ultimate, which runs slightly better, but there are still some minor issues that will likely be addressed.

Sonic Colors: Ultimate is available for Nintendo Switch and other platforms, and you can download the patch right now. For those of you in Europe, the physical version finally has a release date of October 1, 2021, and certain retailers are accepting preorders again. If you preorder from UK retailer GAME, you have the option to buy it in a bundle with a T-shirt.
