SNES Classic Edition Confirmed, Launches September 29th with STAR FOX 2!

The SNES Classic Edition has long been rumored, but today it was just confirmed by Nintendo of America that it’s real, it’s damn real. The console will launch on September 29th in the US, and packs a total of 21 SNES hits such as Super Mario Kart and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. There is also another HUGE game announcement included: Star Fox 2.

That’s right. The unreleased Star Fox 2 which was nearly completed will be appearing on the SNES classic, which is the first time Nintendo has released this game to the public. Considering the fiasco of the NES Classic Edition, it’d be wise to get a head start and start looking for pre-orders of the SNES Classic Edition console!

Full list of games is as follows:

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man® X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts®
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

The unit will retail for $79.99 USD ($99.99 CAD). While that is higher than the NES classic which was $59.99, the addition of an extra controller plus Star Fox 2 more than makes up for the price.
