Shovel Knight Showdown and King of Cards get December release date

Shovel Knight Showdown, Shovel Knight: King of Cards release date Dec. 10

Fans of Shovel Knight rejoice! The final expansions to hit the indie title, Shovel Knight: King of Cards and Shovel Knight Showdown, now have a release date. Yacht Club Games made the announcement today that Dec. 10, 2019 is the date we’re all looking forward to. Huzzah!

Dec. 10 is also going to see the release of more Shovel Knight goodness. In addition to Shovel Knight Showdown and King of Cards, the Treasure Trove Physical Edition, Treasure Trove amiibo 3-pack, and Gold Shovel Knight amiibo are all set to release the same day. Most of these can be preordered at major retailers, but the Gold amiibo will seemingly only be available at Best Buy and GameStop.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards lets players go through the game as King Knight, one of the antagonists from the original game. They’ve tweaked the stages to allow for King Knight’s new mechanics and added a card game to boot. It’s been in the works for years, so fans of the series are in for a real treat. Shovel Knight Showdown, on the other hand, is a fighting game starring a bunch of Shovel Knight characters. Both of these will be available to players who own Treasure Trove (though the 3DS version will be lacking Shovel Knight Showdown). Personally, I’ve been waiting for the physical edition of Treasure Trove to complete my Shovel Knight experience on the Switch, so this is great news.

Will you be picking these titles up? Looking forward to playing cards as King Knight? Planning on bashing your friends’ heads with shovels? Let us know!
