The Kickstarter darling, Shovel Knight, which is planned to be released for both the Wii and 3DS has dug its way to reach its first goal of $75,000 on a path of newly announced \”stretch goals\”. The prize for meeting this first stretch goal of $80,000 will be an in-game music player which will rock the levels with Shovel Knight background tunes. Polygon says that \”song scrolls\” in each level can be collected and then taken to a bard who adds them to the music player.
The next stretch goal of a whopping $90,000 will bring achievements to every version of Shovel Knight and a goal of $100,000 adds a new game plus option. Even higher level goals would include creation of Mac and Linux versions for $130,000 and a gender swap mode at the goal mark of $160,000 plus an additional challenge at $180,000.
The creators of Shovel Knight, Yacht Club Games is considering making a multi-player, four battle mode at the point of reaching the stretch goal of $200,000. The multiplayer portion would only offer local player co-op and can be found in all versions of Shovel Knight. Yacht Club Games is hoping to add a cash collecting mode where players try to knock precious gems out of other players to see who can get the highest amount, race mode, and a \”last man standing\” out all battle mode mini game.
Right now Yacht Club Games said that backers who pay around $15 and up can secure themselves a copy of the game for either the Nintendo 3DS or the Wii U.
In case your wondering what Shovel Knight is all about our very own Andy W. mentioned it in his recent article about the game. It was described as,
\”…a sweeping classic action adventure game with awesome gameplay, memorable characters, and an 8-bit retro aesthetic. It’s a hot mashup of new and old that may remind you of Mega Man, Castlevania, or Dark Souls! You play as the eponymous Shovel Knight, a small knight with a huge quest. Shovel Knight has come to this valley with two goals: to defeat the evil Enchantress and save his lost beloved. He wields a ShovelBlade: a multipurpose weapon whose techniques have now been lost to the ages. Always honest and helpful, Shovel Knight is a shining example of the code of Shovelry: Slash Mercilessly and Dig Tirelessly!\”
