Shin Megami Tensei V characters Magatsuhi Skills SMTV SMT5 Atlus news program video 1

Atlus revealed five new characters for Shin Megami Tensei V in the first news program video that went up today. The characters introduced include classmates, friends, and the Prime Minister of Japan. We also learned about the “Magatsuhi Skills” in Shin Megami Tensei V.

The first character introduced is Tao Isonokami (voice: Saori Hayami), a third-year student and a classmate of the protagonist. She’s a caring friend and has had spiritual powers since she was a child. She assists the Japanese branch of Bethel and will support the protagonist when he joins.

Next is Yuzuru Atsuta (voice: Kaito Ishikawa), a reliable, good friend of the protagonist. He has a strong sense of justice and fights for Bethel to protect his younger sister Miyazu. After spending time in Da’at with the protagonist, he becomes determined to fight for the peace of Tokyo. The third character is another classmate, Ichiro Dazai (voice: Kisho Taniyama), described as cheerful and a little unsophisticated. He gets lost in Da’at while live-streaming and eventually joins Bethel to protect humans from the demons.

The fourth Shin Megami Tensei V character revealed is Miyazu Atsuta (voice: Ryo Hirohashi), Yuzuru’s aforementioned younger sister. She’s shy and often seen at the nurse’s office. She gets involved when Jouin Academy gets attacked by demons. Lastly, we have Hayao Koshimizu (voice: Kenjiro Tsuda), who is not only the prime minister of Japan but the calm and collected representative of Bethel’s Japanese branch.

Atlus also introduced the “Magatsuhi Skills” for Shin Megami Tensei V, which you perform with a filled meter. The meter gradually fills, and you can use it to perform powerful moves to deal big damage to the enemies. Magatsuhi Skills also include support and healing skills. However, keep in mind that enemies can also use these skills, so you’ll want to take extra precautions when facing enemies with powerful Magatsuhi Skills. If you’ve played Shin Megami Tensei III, you may recognize the term Magatsuhi, but the mechanic is different this time around.
