Shin Megami Tensei V launches in 2021, SMT3 gets an HD remaster on Switch

Nintendo Switch release date 2021 Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster Shin Megami Tensei V trailer Atlus

The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase arrived as promised, and thank Odin, there was at least one big announcement people actually cared about in it. Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei V will release exclusively on Nintendo Switch for a simultaneous global launch in 2021, and there is a new, not-extremely-detailed trailer to go with it. On top of that, the cult classic Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne is getting an HD remaster on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 (updated, see bottom) as Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster, 17 years after the original released on PlayStation 2. It will release in spring 2021.

We have cued up the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase to the proper time to reveal Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster first, followed by Shin Megami Tensei V. The reveal of SMT3 in addition to a slightly firmer release date for Shin Megami Tensei V is bound to make Atlus fans ecstatic. I know I am, anyway.

The Shin Megami Tensei V trailer shows off a really, really bad lookin’ demon dude (Lucifer) who casually declares, “The God you worship is dead,” which feels like a bad situation. No information about actual gameplay is revealed. The presumed protagonist looks especially feminine with those eyelashes though. Perhaps we get to play as a woman this time around? Perhaps we’ll have a choice of gender? We’ll just have to keep waiting for more details, like we’re used to doing.
